Visit to Return To Freedom Wild Horse Sanctuary - August 2005
While staying at Pieter and Angela Franken's beautiful farm in the spectacular Santa Ynez Valley, another client kindly arranged for us to visit the Return To Freedom Wild Horse Sanctuary in Lompoc, California. RTF is a haven for approximately 250 wild mustangs and are allowed to roam free in herds while preserving specific bloodlines. Most had been captured by the Bureau of Land Management and would otherwise have been destroyed. RTF is a living example of keeping herds together and managing them in the wild .
I learned so much while I was there, thanks to Neda DeMayo's extensive knowledge and graciousness in showing us the ranch. I was blown away by the beauty of these mustangs and took as many pictures as I could!
